Ipoh airport to be upgraded

The under-utilised Sultan Azlan Shah Airport’s terminal building will be upgraded and the runway lengthened so that the airport can service low-cost carriers. Last year, low-cost carrier, AirAsia, stopped flights from here to Senai, citing the short runway as the reason.

Due to the short runway, the airport cannot take in larger planes such as A320 Airbus which is a popular aircraft among low-cost carriers. The upgrade would include extending the runway, upgrading the terminal building and control tower so that bigger planes could use the airport.

The airport now serves only weekly flights from here to Medan.

Approval has been given to low-cost carrier, Firefly, a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, to fly from Subang to Ipoh and Senai to Ipoh. Firefly would be using turbo propeller planes from Italy for the sector and is expected to take delivery of the new planes by the third-quarter of next year.

Are you looking for reading tutors?

Like all mothers, my girlfriend Joyce, wants to give her little girl, Mary, a headstart on her academic education, so she started teaching Mary how to read even before she was three-years-old. Mary is now five.

Like Joyce, I would also be concerned and place emphasis on my child's ability to read. So, I looked up on reading tutors and found a Learning Center with very competent and professional teachers. They take in children from 4 right up to 14. The tutors at SCORE! take an active, hands-on approach to tutoring and their system is designed to help children succeed, at the same time making sure that the children enjoy the learning. This is the type of learning center I would send my child to, for sure, to get a headstart on reading.

Loving Math (finally)

I was happy to hear from a girlfriend who last year with her family emigrated to the US. I have not heard from her in months and I was beginning to get concerned. She attributed the lack of communication to the stress she and her husband went through with their children's education. Her two school-going children had been doing badly in school, especially in math.

She was happy that that was in the past as they are now coping well with the subject ever since they joined SCORE! Learning Center near their home. My girlfriend is all sold on the programmes offered by SCORE! seeing the progress her children has made. Their math tutors are professional and dedicated and easily transformed their children's abilities thus instilling confidence in them. They are beginning to love math. What a change!
