Touch ’n Go card to buy burgers by next Saturday

Come next Saturday, the TAG (Touch 'n Go) card will be as good as cash when you buy a burger or a doughnut.

The card will be accepted at 21 fastfood outlets in the Klang Valley including A&W, Burger King, Dunkin’ Donut, 7-Eleven, Carrefour hypermarkets, Caltex convenience stores and Cineleisure.

This is under a pilot scheme for usage of the TAG card for retail purchases other than a toll, public transport and parking paying device. This supports Bank Negara's move for a cashless society.

Todate, 4.5 million cards have been issued, of which 50% are considered active, being used at least once a month.

The plan is to increase the number of retail outlets accepting the card by 20 a month and ultimately to have more than 150 such outlets. Consumers need not worry about extra or hidden costs involved as there will be none.

The card can be topped up to a value of RM1,000. If card is lost or stolen, you can just report it for card to be deactivated and replaced with the remaining value.

Not only will adults benefit from this cashless spending, children will also benefit with this one card that can be used for public transport as well as for meals. Definitely, a move in the right direction.

Sunset Over Kuala Lumpur
