Malaysia goes through two monsoon periods a year and currently it's the Northeastern monsoon season resulting in increased rainfall and flooding in the two states of Terengganu and Kelantan.
Tourist numbers to Pulau Redang and Pulau Perhentian also take a dip this time of the year.
However, if you'd still prefer a beach holiday on the east coast, there's still Pulau Tioman or Club Med Cherating, the latter is now open all-year round.
