Motorists will have their Malaysian driving licence revoked if they have been found to be holding a Singapore licence. This is in accordance to the ruling that a person shall be disqualified from obtaining a driving licence when another is granted to him in Singapore. This ruling is to make it easier to trace drivers who commit traffic offences on either side of the Causeway. Singapore is collaboratingwith Malaysia on this exercise.
Singapore prohibits those holding its licence from driving a Malaysian vehicle in the republic while Malaysia allows holders of either licence to drive a Malaysia- or Singapore-registered car in Malaysia.
An International Driving Permit is another alternative. This permits is at a cost of RM150 a year.
