Thinking of trying something new to break fast this Ramadan? Why not head on over to Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Hotel to its swanky all-day dining restaurant, simply christened B’s?
The unique hotel in Precinct 5 near the Maritime Centre and sprawling Water Sports Complex welcomed its first batch of guests last year, in time for the Putrajaya International Water Sports. It is poised to become another tourist draw in the area.
For its first Ramadan, B’s has adopted a Middle Eastern theme and has gone to great lengths to ensure guests are captivated by the food and setting and where waiters sport the tarboosh – a high, flat-topped red cap with a tassel worn by Middle Eastern men.
A whole baby lamb slowly roasted over a fire is the main draw at the Ramadan buffet. A large platter of simmering aromatic saffron-colored Kabuli rice complements the roast lamb.
The buffet features a wide variety of tempting Middle Eastern mezze (appetisers) daily and the person responsible for such a lavish spread is Egyptian guest chef Amr Aly Aly El-Safty who is on a short sojourn at the Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside for Ramadan.
There were Dolmades or rice parcels wrapped in vine leaves, Eggplant Bil Labnah, Marinated Burghul Salad, Spiced Cous Cous Salad, Pita Bread with Hummus or chick pea and olive oil paste, Baba Ghanoush or eggplant dip, Tabbouleh or cracked wheat mixed with ripe tomato, cucumber and green onion, and Tahina or a thick paste made from ground sesame seed.
The main spread consisted of Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak Bertimun Tua (sultan fish cooked with fermented durian and old cucumber), Udang Masam Manis (stir-fried sweet and sour prawn), Ayam Masak Lada Hitam (braised chicken with soya and black pepper), Kambing Briyani (braised lamb with herbs and spices), Ketam Goring Berempah (deep-fried spicy crab) and Pucuk Manis Lemak Labu Kuning Berubi Keladi (braised coconut with young pumpkin and yam).
The Ramadan spread at B’s, priced at RM87++ per adult with 50% off for children between six and 12 years old, also features 10 stations offering noodles, Japanese and Chinese fare, snacks, desserts and thirst-quenchers.
