New Malaysian Stamps to feature Green buildings

Stamp- or first-day cover collectors would be happy to note that three energy-efficient buildings will appear in a special collection of first-day covers by Pos Malaysia to highlight the concern over global warming.

The buildings – Pusat Tenaga Malaysia in Bandar Baru Bangi, the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry and Energy Commission headquarters in Putrajaya – will be commemorated in various denomination stamps to be released tomorrow.

Pusat Tenaga’s green energy office – which is the first public building designed with the capability to generate its own energy – will be featured on the 30 sen stamp while the award-winning ministry’s headquarters will be seen on the 50 sen stamp.

The RM1 stamp will highlight the office for the Energy Commission – also known as the Diamond building for its inverted pyramid concept to create extensive shading and reduce heat.

The first-day covers with the three stamps are priced at RM2.10, folders at RM5.50 and a full set of stamps, first-day covers and folders will be sold at RM43.60.
