If you're a tourist to our country and happen to be in Kuala Lumpur, why not head on down to Central Market to celebrate the Mid-Autmn Festival or locally-referred to as Lantern Festival or Mooncake Festival. Malaysia is a multi-ethnic, multi-festival society with Chinese making up more than 30% of the population.
This Chinese festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Lunar year and this year, Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Sep 22. However, for everyone's convenience and to encourage more participation, Central Market is celebrating the festival early on Sep 18, which is a Saturday.
A colourful lantern procession of various shapes and sizes, carried by adults and children alike will be part of the main event. You can also join in the procession.
There will also be acrobatic lion dances, and mooncake-tasting, specially baked for this joyous occasion.
