The northern state of Perlis has been hit by floods following continuous rain since Monday night. As many as 20 relief centers have been set up to house some 1300 evacuees. The worst hit is Kangar.
In Padang Besar, 380 flood victims were evacuated to eight areas and in Arau, 44 people were evacuated.

Earth Hour 2011, Sat, Mar 26, 8:30 - 9:30PM
At 8:30PM tomorrow, Saturday 26th March 2011, lights will switch off around the globe for Earth Hour and people will commit to actions that go beyond the hour. In case you are new to this country and are wondering about gasoline or petrol prices here, there are two types of petrol available, RON95 and RON97.
Petrol is priced at RM1.90 per litre for RON 95 and RM2.50 per litre for premium petrol RON 97.
The price of RON 97 petrol was last raised on Feb 1, up from an initial 10sen increase on Jan 4. In December, RON 95 petrol and diesel rose 5sen per litre to RM1.90 and RM1.85 per litre respectively.
In the face of higher crude oil prices which is around USD105 currently, the government fuel subsidy is estimated to rise by an additional RM4bil this year pushing up the fuel subsidy under Budget 2011 to RM14bil, compared with the RM10bil estimation last year when oil prices hovered around US$85 to US$90 per barrel.

Catch Two Art Exhibitions in Kuala Lumpur
If you like Art, here is a chance to catch two art exhibitions in Kuala Lumpur. One is of Ecuadorian art, the other Batik art by a German batik artist.
Besides the Galapagos Islands, little much is known of Ecuador and her heritage in terms of arts and culture. Here is a chance for Malaysians and visitors alike to know more about Ecuador's rich heritage of arts and culture.
In an effort to promote this rich heritage, Eastin Hotel Petaling Jaya has joined hands with the Embassy of Ecuador and City Art Gallery to organise an Ecuadorian Art exhibition.
The recent launch saw the ambassador Lourdes Puma Puma launching the event at the hotel’s Ee Chinese Restaurant.
The Ecuadorian Art exhibition is held at Ee Chinese Cuisine Restaurant Eastin Hotel, Petaling Jaya until April. On display are also Ecuadorian handicrafts and musical instruments made from bamboo and cedar wood such as the quena, quenacho, pan flute and cedar flute.
Ecuadorian food is also available a la carte, priced from RM35++ onwards.

The other exhibition you might want to catch is a solo exhibition by an internationally-recognised batik artist from Germany, Joachim Blank. The exhibition is held at TMS Art Gallery in Taman Melawati.
Some info about the artist:
He was trained in Jogjakarta, Indonesia, in the 1980s by well-known artists Amri Yahya and Ardianto.
For the exhibition, Blank is featuring 11 pieces of batik art, some with double layers with cotton and organza to create a 3D effect.
The solo exhibition is on until March 30.
