Bomb attacks in southern Thailand

Southern Thailand has in recent years been wrought with bombings by Muslim insurgents who are unhappy with their government, the Thai government. Last Saturday saw several bomb attacks at Yala district as well as the Haadyai and Songkla district killing visitors and locals alike injuring many, some seriously.

Haadyai is a popular tourist destination for Malaysians and Singaporeans. The recent attack on Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel saw two Malaysians killed and many others in local hospitals.

The Malaysian government is advising citizens to defer travel to this part of Thailand. So, if you have plans to visit southern Thailand, you may want to wait a while and/or check with your travel agent for updates.
