Installation of Malaysia's 14th King

This morning, the new King, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah was installed as the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong in a ceremony steeped in royal tradition at the Istana Negara in Jalan Duta. His Royal Highness's reign began on 13 December 2011 after his election by the Conference of Rulers.


The installation ceremony was telecast live by Radio Television Malaysia (RTM). On hand to document the event was National Geographic in collaboration with Finas.

The installation ceremony, attended by eminent guests, took place at the Balairong Seri or Throne Hall of the national palace, with Tuanku Abdul Halim taking his Oath of Installation, marking the formal commencement of his tenure as the Supreme Head of the Federation.

Some 900 guests witnessed the colourful and glorious ceremony, including the Malay Rulers and their consorts, the Yang Di-Pertuas Negri, the Prime Minister as well as Cabinet Ministers and foreign diplomats.
