Bird migration

Every year from January to mid-April, 30,000 to 40,000 migratory Oriental Honey-buzzards soar across the Malaysian skies as part of their spring migration. These raptors fly through the area at the Tanjung Tuan lighthouse in Port Dickson to pick up the thermal heat before heading back home to their breeding grounds in northern Asia and East Asia including Siberia, China, Mongolia, Korea, Japan, India and Indochina as winter draws to an end.

Watch these beautiful creatures in flight.

The Avi Spa at Avillion Port Dickson

The Avi Spa at Avillion Port Dickson is probably the only floating spa in Malaysia, built above water, located at the very furthest of the resort on the Straits of Malacca. Port Dickson is a beach town to the south of Kuala Lumpur and is only about one and a half hours drive away.

The spa is divided into three venues – avi lounge; avi spa suites that offer seven luxury suites including two rooms for couples and a premium suite; and avi spa space.

Avi Spa is owned and managed by the Avillion Hotel Group.

Guests may choose to have a massage, scrub, wrap, bath, hair treatment, manicure or a facial. There’s also special “rituals” offered such as the “velvety batik” or “dondang sayang”.

The spa menu comes in three sections – signature, traditional and marine treatments. The signature treatments are mapped according to one of four moods (valour, ardour, lightness and poise) based on elements of nature: water, earth, wind and fire. They are 100% custom-made from pure essential oil blends and each of the oils are based on an emotion inspired by the four classical elements.
