This time of the year is monsoon season when rainfall is frequent and at times furiously. To people who live in hillside residences, this incessant rainfall is worrisome as the soil underneath may become soft and could result in the soil or mud sliding.
At 4am this morning, there was a massive landslide at Bukit Antarabangsa, a hilly residential area in Kuala Lumpur. At time of writing, four deaths have been reported, 15 injured and more than 2000 people have been evacuated.
This site is some 1.5km away from a tower that collapsed on Dec 11, 1993, in which 48 people died.
Rescue efforts are underway.
