Malaysia petrol price for August 2015 - down 10 sen

Retail petrol prices of RON95, RON97 and diesel saw a dip of 10 sen a litre from midnight.

The new prices will see RON95 retailed at RM2.05, RON97 at RM2.45 and diesel at RM1.95 per litre.

Malaysians no longer enjoy fuel subsidy. Fuel prices are now determined monthly based on market price. However, prices here are still lower than the prices at both our immediate neighbouring countries.

Here in Malaysia, the price of petrol is the same across the country meaning to say wherever you fill your tank in any part of the country, the petrol price is the same.

Two types of petrol are sold in Malaysia, RON95 and RON97. The latter being the premium grade is the petrol available to foreign vehicles in the country.

RON97 is down by 20 sen today

Yes, good news for owners whose vehicle uses RON97 petrol as well as for owners of foreign-registered cars. Many vehicles cross the border to Malaysia daily - from Thailand in the north of the peninsula and from Singapore in the south.

As of midnight, RON97 is priced at RM2.55 a litre down 20 sen. More about RON97.

RON95 petrol is currently at RM2.30 per litre while diesel costs RM2.20 per litre. These prices came into effect on 2 October, last month.

New Price of petrol in Malaysia - October 2014

The price of RON95 petrol and diesel fuel went up by 20 sen effective midnight.

The new price of RON95 petrol is now RM2.30 per litre while diesel costs RM2.20 per litre.

The current unsubsidised market price for RON95 is RM2.58 per litre while diesel is RM2.52 per litre.

Petrol and diesel prices were last increased, also by a 20 sen margin, on Sept 2 last year.

The current price of RON 97 petrol is RM2.75 per litre - reduced by 10 sen last month, September.

The price of RON95 petrol and diesel has been increased by 20 sen today making it RM2.10 for RON95 and RM2.00 for diesel. The image above is but one of many petrol stations across the country that saw a long queue for petrol to beat the price increase at the stroke of midnight Tuesday.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced the decision, saying that it would save the Government RM1.1bil from September to December this year and RM3.3bil annually.

Before the revision, the price for RON95 was RM1.90 per litre and RM1.80 for diesel. The last price increase for RON95 was in 2010.

Currently, the Government subsidises 83 sen for each litre of RON95 petrol and RM1 for a litre of diesel.

The price of premium petrol RON97 remains at RM2.70 per litre since May.

The pump price of RON97 petrol will be reduced by 20sen to RM2.60 per litre from Thursday (July 5). Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said in a statement that the reduction was due in line with the drop in the average global oil price.

The government had on June 7 lowered the price of RON97 petrol by 10sen to RM2.80 a litre.

The retail price of RON97 petrol is determined by a 'managed float' in which the price will be changed according to the market.

Petrol price of RON95 remains at RM1.90 a litre while diesel is at RM1.80 a litre.

If you are an owner of a vehicle using petrol RON97, there is good news for you.

The retail price of RON97 would cost 10 sen less at RM2.80 per litre from Thursday (tomorrow or rather after midnight tonight). The dip in price is in line with the dip in average global crude oil prices in May.

In Malaysia, the retail price of premium petrol RON97 is fixed based on a managed float whereby the monthly price is determined according to market forces. The last increase of 10 sen (to RM2.90) was on Apr 3, 2012.

RON95 is still at RM1.90 a litre while diesel is at RM1.80 a litre.

Vehicles here in Malaysia have a choice of two types of gasoline or petrol though the capacity of one's car determines the type suitable. There is RON 97 and RON 95, the latter is the type most vehicles use and which is government-subsidized.

The price of premium RON 97 however, fluctuates according to the oil price in the market.

As of yesterday, RON 97 saw an increase of 20 sen which brings the price to RM2.90 a litre. Petrol price in Malaysia is across the board, so no matter in which part of the country you are, the price remains the same.

The price of RON 95 is still at RM1.90 a litre.

These are major petrol brands in Malaysia. Some petrol stations are open 24 hours. Most close by 11:00pm. Cash works best but credit cards are also accepted. All petrol stations are on self-service though some have attendants to assist at no charge.

Ron 97 petrol up by 20 sen to RM2.70

The Star reported that the price of RON97 petrol will go up by 20 sen to RM2.70 per litre effective midnight tonight. The increase is due to the rise in the price of crude oil to US$114 per drum this week from US$105.

RON95 petrol remains at RM1.90 per litre.

In case you are new to this country and are wondering about gasoline or petrol prices here, there are two types of petrol available, RON95 and RON97.

Petrol is priced at RM1.90 per litre for RON 95 and RM2.50 per litre for premium petrol RON 97.

The price of RON 97 petrol was last raised on Feb 1, up from an initial 10sen increase on Jan 4. In December, RON 95 petrol and diesel rose 5sen per litre to RM1.90 and RM1.85 per litre respectively.

In the face of higher crude oil prices which is around USD105 currently, the government fuel subsidy is estimated to rise by an additional RM4bil this year pushing up the fuel subsidy under Budget 2011 to RM14bil, compared with the RM10bil estimation last year when oil prices hovered around US$85 to US$90 per barrel.

Petrol RON 97 price up 5 sen to RM2.15

Here in Malaysia, there are two grades of petrol, RON 95 and RON 97. RON 95 is at RM1.85 a litre while RON 97 is at RM2.10 a litre but beginning Tuesday (today) the price of RON 97 has been increased by 5 sen and will now cost RM2.15 per litre.

RON 97 is not subsidized by the government and reflects the price of petrol in the global market. Vehicles not registered in Malaysia can only use RON 97.

It was reported on July 16 that the government had decided to withdraw the petrol subsidy for RON 97 and subject it to a managed float.

Price of RON 97 would be determined by an automatic pricing mechanism.

Prices have gone up for Sugar, Petrol, LPG and Diesel

To continue to maintain positive economy, the government has decided to increase the price of a few essential items. From Friday last, i.e. July 16, the price of sugar, petrol, LPG and diesel have gone up.

Sugar now costs 25sen more to RM1.75 per kg; LPG 10sen up to RM1.85 per kg; Petrol RON 95 5sen up to RM1.85 per litre, RON 97 also 5sen up to RM2.10 per litre as well as designated a controlled float. Diesel is also up by 5sen to RM1.75 per litre.

Price of RON 95 at RM1.80 from Tuesday

I am not sure if the price of gasoline is higher or lower as compared to that of other countries but from Tuesday, the newly introduced RON 95 fuel will be priced at RM1.80 - five sen higher than the previous RM1.75.

Meanwhile, RON 97 is upgraded as a premium product and has gone up to RM2.05 from RM1.80.

Although the price is now 5 sen higher, the Government is still subsidising 33.81 sen per litre (of RON 95) which is equivalent to RM304mil monthly while for RON97, the Government is subsidising 42.72 sen per litre.

The cost for RON 95 went up 102% from USD$ 40.75 per barrel to USD$ 82.30 in December last year and August respectively. Future gas prices will be adjusted accordingly in tandem with changes in global prices
