Hari Raya is most probably set for Sep 20 and 21, so the exodus of city-folk returning to their hometown has already started for some.
For the first time, all vehicles using the KL-Karak Highway and the East Coast Highway (Phase 1) on Sept 18 and Sept 24 from midnight until 5am, will be exempted from paying toll.
The time between midnight and 5am is supposed to be the least congested thus smoother traffic.
About 200,000 vehicles a day are expected to ply the East Coast expressway from Gombak to Jabor, Terengganu during the festive period.
Meanwhile, private vehicles using the North-South Expressway and ELITE highways will enjoy up to 20% discount on toll charges in conjunction with the Hari Raya. The discount will be applicable to private car owners – which are categorised as Class 1 motorists – travelling during off-peak hours on Sept 16,17,18, 22, 24 and 25 between midnight and 7am.
