Malaysians should not be alarmed over the threat of bird flu now spreading in other countries. Proactive measures are being taken by the Health Ministry to prepare us in any eventuality. It was reported that although avian flu was detected among poultry in Malaysia in 2004 and 2006, there was no case of avian flu among humans.
There is no restriction on travellers from countries with bird flu cases from entering the country.
However, the public are to notify the relevant authorities of any unusual deaths among poultry.
