Strong quake hits northern Sumatra
A strong earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale struck at 1.57pm Sunday in west coast of northern Sumatra, Indonesia.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department reported that the epicentre of the moderate earthquake was 623km soutwest of Simeulue, Indonesia, and 1,106km southwest of Kampar, Perak. BERNAMA

6.4 quake jolts Aceh
An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale rocked Simeulue, Aceh on Sunday at 12:57 p.m.
The epicenter of the temblor was located 641 kilometers to the southwest of Simeulue at a depth of 121 kilometers, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, the agency also recorded a 6.0-magnitude tremor that hit Pandeglang, Banten. The quake was also felt in Depok, Bogor and Jakarta.
On Thursday, Aceh and its surrounding areas were struck by an 8.5-magnitude quake and dozens of aftershocks, which also triggered a mini-tsunami. The earthquake claimed five lives, mostly due to heart attacks.
